Healing Through Yoga

Yoga and mobility work are more than practices to me—they are medicine.

My journey with yoga began twenty-eight years ago, as a young mother of two navigating anxiety, chronic pain, and sleepless nights. In search of relief, my wise sister gently nudged me toward a gentle yoga class. After just a few sessions, I began to feel a profound shift—my symptoms started to ease, and for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of calm return. I had no idea then that this practice would become a lifelong anchor, helping me reconnect with my body’s innate capacity to heal and offering lasting relief.

Over the years, yoga has supported me through some of life’s most difficult seasons, including a cancer diagnosis, a cryptogenic stroke, and spinal dysfunction. It’s helped me heal, find steadiness, and come home to myself. But it’s also been a space where I’ve pushed too hard, ignored my body’s signals, and gotten hurt. For a long time, I used yoga to perform and prove rather than to feel and listen. I confused intensity with growth, and discipline with disconnection.

That lived experience eventually led me to the Yoga Medicine Therapeutic Specialist path. Diving deep into the orthopedic and mental health modules and focusing on myofascial work felt like a natural extension of my lifelong commitment to learning and sharing evidence-based healing practices. Through Yoga Medicine and other meaningful trainings, I found tools that supported my own recovery—and a way to help others rebuild trust with their bodies and reconnect with their innate resilience.

Today, I approach yoga differently. It’s no longer about pushing limits, but about creating space for presence, healing, and deep listening.
